RESOLUTION NO. 9999
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CAMPBELL AMENDING THE RECORDS
RETENTION SCHEDULE FOR CITY DEPARTMENTS
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 34090 authorizes the City Department Heads to
destroy any City record, document, instrument, book, or paper under their charge, without
making a copy thereof, after the same is no longer required, with the approval of the legislative
body by Resolution and the written consent of the City Attorney; and
WHEREAS, the State Legislature approved Senate Bill 742 in the 1998-99 Session adopting a
document entitled "Local Government Records Retention Guidelines"; and
WHEREAS, the Campbell City Council subsequently adopted Resolution 9822 approving a
Records Retention Schedule for the City of Campbell consistent with the retention guidelines as
set forth in Senate Bill 742; and
WHEREAS, staff has identified additional records that should be included in the Retention
Schedule and recommends an amendment to the Records Retention Schedule incorporating said
records as follows:
Lighting and Landscaping District Files - Permanent pursuant to GC 30900(a)
Local Improvement District Files - Permanent pursuant to GC 30900 (a)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby amends the Records Retention Schedule for city departments, excluding the Police
Department, by adding the specified files to the Records Retention Schedule.
