RESOLUTION NO. 9911
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING PURCHASE OF TRAFFIC COLLISION DATA
HARDW ARE/SOFTWARE AND APPROV AL OF A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell does not currently have an automated traffic records
system that can be shared by the Police Department and Public Works Department/Traffic
Engineering Division and that can be used to maintain its collision and citation records
efficiently; and
WHEREAS, the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) has awarded the City of
Campbell a grant in the amount of $50.,000 to purchase a GIS-based Automated
Collision/Citation Analysis and Tracking System; and
WHEREAS, a project to purchase and install such a system is not currently in the
Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Year 2001/02; and
WHEREAS, the engineer's estimate is $50,000 for the entire project, including
$45,000 for software, $3,000 for network hardware and cabling, and $2,000 for other
expenses; and
WHEREAS, the engineer's estimate is below the $100,000 maximum limit for informal
bids of public projects;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Campbell hereby approves the purchase of a GIS-based Automated Collision/Citation Analysis
and Tracking System and authorizes call for i,nformal bids for a GIS-based Automated
Collision/Citation Analysis and Tracking System for the Police and Public Works
Departments; authorizes the Public Works Director to award a contract to the lowest
responsible bidder up to $45,000; and approves a budget adjustment in the amount of $50,000.

Public Works has been awarded an Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) Grant for FY 2001-02 in the amount of
$50,000. This project is not reflected in the adopted 2001102 Capital Imllrovement Program. This
budget adjustment reflects receipt of the grant funds and establishes a new Capital Improvement Project.
