A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
COMMENDING CRUZ S. GOMEZ FOR THIRTY-NINE YEARS OF SERVICE
WITH THE CITY OF CAMPBELL UPON IDS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Cruz S. Gomez was hired by the City of Campbell as a Senior
Engineering Aide on November 20, 1961, promoted to Junior Civil Engineer on October
5, 1964, and promoted to Assistant Civil Engineer on September 1, 1973; and,
WHEREAS, Cruz S. Gomez has served in all areas of engineering in the Public
Works Department including land development map and plan review, traffic engineering,
public improvement design, construction inspection, and urban runoff pollution
prevention; and,
WHEREAS, Cruz S. Gomez's engineering judgment and extraordinary ability to
foresee potential issues has allowed a proactive resolution to many challenges; and,
WHEREAS, Cruz S. Gomez has always worked diligently to improve the quality
of life for the residents of the City of Campbell; and,
WHEREAS, Cruz S. Gomez is a dependable source of knowledge for practices,
procedures, and policies implemented by the Public Works Department during the past
39 years and, as such, is one of the Department's greatest assets; and,
WHEREAS, Cruz S. Gomez has announced his retirement effective July 29,
2001.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Campbell on behalf of the citizens of Campbell and the City staff hereby expresses its
sincere appreciation to Cruz S. Gomez for thirty-nine years of valuable service and
wishes him a fulfilling retirement.
