RESOLUTION NO. 9865
A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE
CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY PLAN
WHEREAS, the City Manager is required by Section 2.12.030 of the Campbell Municipal
Code to prepare and submit to the City Council recommendations for the reorganization of
offices, departments, and positions which are considered to be in the best interest of efficient,
effective and economical conduct of the municipal services provided by the City; and
WHEREAS, a review has been conducted; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to the current Classification and Salary Plan is needed to
meet the requirements of Municipal Code Section 2.12.030.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
does hereby approve the job descriptions of Museum Curator (Exhibit A), Community Services
Officer (Exhibit B), and Mechanic I; addition of a Museum Curator position, five (5) Community
Services Officer positions, a Mechanic I position, a Park Maintenance Worker II position, and a
.6 FTE Senior Civil Engineer position; an increase in the Personnel Technician position from .50
to .75 FTE; and the conversion of one full-time Public Safety Dispatcher position to two .5 FTE
positions.

CITY OF CAMPBELL
MUSEUM CURATOR
DEFINITION
Under supervision, to plan and organize a variety of services, programs, and activities
related to the Historic Resources Division of the Recreation and Community Services
Department; and to do related work as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Plans, schedules, implements, and evaluates a variety of division programs and services;
develops exhibit themes and layouts; serves as museum curator; coordinates, designs and
implements Museum exhibits and programs; leads and coordinates volunteer docent
activities; researches and writes reports; catalogs, preserves and conserves historic objects;
archives materials and photographs; makes public presentations and interprets exhibits;
assists in budget preparation and grant applications; contributes to and designs all
publications including quarterly newsletter; advises the City's Historic Preservation Board;
and performs other related work as required.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Knowledge of:
Graduation from college with major course work in
museum studies/management, history, social sciences,
anthropology, public administration or related field.
(Closely related experience may be substituted on a year for
year basis for up to two years of the required education. A
minimum of 60 semester units towards a recreation/leisure
services or closely related degree would still be required.)
Principles, practices and methods of museum collection,
inventory and preservation; museum exhibition
techniques; research methods; office procedures;
computer skills including databases, word processing,
spreadsheets, graphics and publications.
Education and Experience:
Ability to:
Organize and accomplish work tasks with a minimum of
supervision; work effectively with a variety of
community organizations, volunteers, other employees,
and the public; speak and write effectively; prepare and
maintain records and reports; physically work on and
install exhibits.
Possession of:
Valid California Driver's License

COMMUNITY SERVICES OFFICER
DEFINITION
Under general supervIsIon, performs a variety of duties and assignments to assist Police
Officers in law enforcement activities including investigations, patrol, animal services, records,
parks, and traffic assignments; and to do related work as required.
TYPICAL DUTI ES
Performs a wide variety of civilian duties for the Police Department. Performs field work In the
enforcement of parking regulations, ordinances, and laws; issues citations for parking and
zoning violations; enforces laws and ordinances as required; arranges to have vehicles towed as
necessary; prepares reports; processes crime scenes for evidence; observes and reports
hazardous conditions, and other emergencies; provides traffic control; receives complaints and
reports of routine criminal and non-criminal incidents from the public; maintains records;
prepares necessary reports and appears in court to present evidence and testimony as required;
renders first aid and/or CPR when necessary; operates a variety of office equipment; performs
related duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of related
work experience.
Knowledge of:
Policies and procedures of the police department; laws,
regulations, and civil and criminal statues of appropriate
agencies, provisions of the California Vehicle Code applicable to
municipal traffic and vehicle control, crime prevention techniques
and materials. Correct English usage, spelling, punctuation and
grammar; common word processing, and customer service skills.
Ability to:
Analyze situations and implement effective courses of action;
meet the public with courtesy and tact; establish and maintain
cooperative working relationships; understand and carry out oral
and written directions; read and understand laws, ordinances,
policies, rules and instructions.
Possession of:
Valid California Driver's License.

MECHANIC I
DEFINITION
Under general supervision to perform a wide range of minor mechanical work in the
servicing and repair of a variety of automotive and mechanical equipment, and to do
other related work as required
TYPICAL DUTIES
Cleans, washes and services motorized equipment; lubricates automotive equipment;
inspects, services and makes minor repairs to batteries, tires, electrical systems,
brakes, radiators, etc., and reports the need for further repairs; operates gasoline pump;
keeps rolling stock supplied with fuel, oil, grease and water; maintains fuel, lubrication
and maintenance records; sweeps and cleans shop and maintains it in an orderly
condition; obtains and keeps records for parts.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade plus one
year of service station or garage work. The one year
experience requirement may be substituted by one
year of post-secondary course work relating to
automotive maintenance and repair including some
practical course work involving equipment
maintenance.
Knowledge of:
Lubricating materials, tools and devices; tire
maintenance and repair; common automotive parts
and supplies; standard mechanic's tools and
equipment; methods and techniques for maintaining
maintenance and supply records.
Perform routine service and repair to automotive
equipment.
Ability to:
Possession of:
Valid California Driver's License. Class B Commercial
Driver's License must be obtained within 120 days
from appointment date.
