RESOLUTION NO. 9777
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR A TRAFFIC SIGNAL
PRIORITY CONTROL SYSTEM AND AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO
EXECUTE A PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH THE MOST QUALIFIED RESPONDENT
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell does not currently have a traffic signal priority control
system wherein public safety and emergency service vehicles can activate in-vehicle pre-emption of
traffic signals; and
WHEREAS, a traffic signal priority control system has been identified as a necessary and
desirable emergency response and public safety improvement benefiting the City of Campbell; and
WHEREAS, the primary considerations for selecting a traffic signal priority control system are
reliability, system capabilities, and regional compatibility; and
WHEREAS, reliability data can be obtained from maintenance records from existing installed
systems; and
WHEREAS, system capabilities desired by the City of Campbell include encoding, security,
and remote access; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that issuance of a request for proposals will provide the
best method for evaluating specific system requirements and reliability data; and
WHEREAS, the Adopted Fiscal Year 2000-2001 Capital Budget has appropriated $70,000 for
a traffic signal priority control system;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby authorizes the issuance of a request for proposals for the provision of a traffic signal priority
control system.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell hereby
authorizes the Public Works Director to execute a purchase agreement with the most qualified
respondent to the request for proposals.
