RESOLUTION NO. 9726
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE SAN JOSE
ST ATE FOUNDATION AND THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
WHEREAS, the San Jose State University Foundation and the San Jose State College of
Engineering has established a collaborative of government, businesses, academia, and non-profit
organizations, and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Collaborative is to reduce the loss of life and property
damage due to, and accelerate economic recovery from, natural and other disasters by working in
partnership to achieve high levels of practical, cost-effective hazard mitigation, and
WHEREAS, activities of the Collaborative will include assessing technologies for risk
reduction, emergency preparedness and recovery applications, and providing professional
development, including academic curricula, seminars, workshops, training courses and exercises,
and
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell would join the Santa Clara County Emergency
Preparedness Council and the cities of Sunnyvale and San Jose by entering into an agreement with
the Collaborative;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby approves a Memorandum of Understanding between the San Jose State Foundation and
the City of Campbell regarding the Collaborative for Disaster Mitigation.
