RESOLUTION NO. 9719
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING V ASONA CORRIDOR COMMUNITY ORIENTED DESIGN
ENHANCEMENT PROJECT PRIORITIES; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A
CONSULTANT SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH SASAKI ASSOCIATES FOR
URBAN DESIGN SERVICES; AND APPROVAL OF A BUDGET ADUSTMENT
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has established the
Community Oriented Design Enhancements (CODE) Program, and
WHEREAS, the Vasona Light Rail Project is designated as an eligible project for CODE
funding, and
WHEREAS, the CODE program has allocated approximately $800,600 to fund
enhancements to the Vasona Light Rail Project within the City of Campbell, and
WHEREAS, staff has developed a list of CODE project priorities, and
WHEREAS, professional urban design services are necessary to assist staff in judiciously
recommending where CODE funds should be spent, and
WHEREAS, the firm of Sasaki and Associates is uniquely qualified to assist the City with
the required urban design analysis, and
WHEREAS, the attached budget adjustment has been prepared to appropriate the necessary
funding for retaining Sasaki and Associates.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby approves the attached list of project priorities for CODE funding; that the Public Works
Director is authorized to execute an agreement with Sasaki and Associates for urban design services
for a not to exceed amount of $37,500; and that the attached budget adjustment in the amount of
$37,500 is approved.

Project Priorities
· Architectural upgrades to all three Campbell station shelters, with particular emphasis on
the Historic Downtown Campbell station.
· Landscaping improvements and other urban design enhancements in the vicinity of the
Hamilton Station.
· Upgraded landscaping and urban design treatment at the Winchester station park and ride
lot.
· Incorporation of historical markers, references, or other interpretive elements within
stations.
· Enhanced connections between Downtown Campbell businesses, the Civic Center and
the Downtown Campbell station.
· Upgraded fencing, where appropriate, along the railroad right-of-way.
· Screening or architectural upgrades to utility cabinets and traction power sub-stations
located within the City of Campbell.
· Incorporation of appropriately integrated artwork within the overall station design.
