RESOLUTION NO. 10847
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO ISSUE A REQUEST FOR
PROPOSALS FOR THE SIGNAL SYSTEM REPLACEMENT-PHASE I PROJECT
WHEREAS, a total of 12 signalized intersections on Hamilton and Bascom Avenues
are operated with Econolite controllers and ICONS signal system software; and
WHEREAS, the ICONS software has been very unstable and technical support has
been very limited; and
WHEREAS, the Signal System Replacement Project-Phase I (CIP No. 08-07)
would replace the existing traffic signal system software and controllers at the 12 signalized
intersections on Hamilton Avenue and Bascom Avenue; and
WHEREAS, a Request for Proposals is appropriate bidding procedure since system
reliability, quality, capability, and technical support are overriding in relation to price in the
procurement of the hardware and software; and
WHEREAS, the preliminary cost estimate is $235,000 for procuring the required
hardware and software.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Campbell
that the Public Works Director is hereby authorized to issue a Request of Proposals for the
Signal System Replacement Project-Phase I (CIP No. 08-07).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Public Works Director is authorized to
negotiate and award a contract to the most qualified firm with the project budget.
