A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL HONORING JUDY SMITH
ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
WHEREAS, in November 1986, Judy Smith began service with the City of Campbell as Secretary to
the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, prior to this appointment, she worked in various administrative support roles including six
years as a Legal Secretary with three agencies: the Pomona Unified School District, the labor relations
law firm of Whitmore, Kay and Stevens in Palo Alto, and Trilogy Systems in Cupertino; and four years
with the City of Pomona as an Administrative Secretary; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure with the City of Campbell, she has supported nine different City
Managers and many Council members; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Smith was once honored with an award for "Secretary of the Year" by the Santa Clara
County Chapter of Professional Secretaries International; and
WHEREAS, while working in the City Manager's Office, Ms. Smith has handled citizen complaints,
prepared correspondence and managed appointment and travel calendars for the Mayor, City Council
and City Manager; and
WHEREAS, she has also helped coordinate meetings of several regional organizations; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Smith has served as the Recording Secretary for the Civic Improvement Commission,
preparing agendas and minutes for the 7-member advisory board; and
WHEREAS, in August of 2001, she received a commendation letter form Assemblymember Rebecca
Cohn for her help with a public hearing on "The Impact of the Energy Crisis on California's Senior
Community"; and
WHEREAS, she has contributed greatly to the City of Campbell and the City Manager's Office for 21
years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell express their
deepest appreciation to Judy Smith for her years of valuable service to the City of Campbell, and wish
her well in retirement.
