RESOLUTION NO. 10882
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING THE PRELIMINARY DESIGN FOR THE EAST CAMPBELL
AVENUE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS
DIRECTOR TO ISSUE A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR PUBLIC ART,
AND FINDING THE PROJECT TO BE CATEGORICALLY EXEMPT UNDER
SECTION 15301 OF THE CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT
WHEREAS, the East Campbell Avenue Master Plan was approved by the City
Council on May 15, 2007; and
WHEREAS, the Master Plan outlined public street improvements for East
Campbell Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the firm of DMJM Harris was hired to prepare plans for the East
Campbell Avenue Improvement Project which was to include construction of as
many of the public improvements identified in the Master Plan as physically and
financially feasible; and
WHEREAS, the preliminary design for the East Campbell Avenue Improvement
Project was presented to the City Council at the January 2, 2008 City Council
Study Session; and
WHEREAS, the preliminary design was also presented to the Bicycle Advisory
Committee (BAC), the Historic Preservation Board (HPB), the Parks and
Recreation Commission (P&R) and at a community meeting; and
WHEREAS, comments and input received from the BAC, HPB, P&R, and the
community were presented to City Council at the February 19, 2008 City Council
Study Session; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA),
the East Campbell Avenue Improvement Project can be found to be categorically
exempt under Section 15301; and
WHEREAS, an allocation of $45,000 be designated for the design and
installation of public art; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Director will prepare a Request For Proposals for
public artists and will review and present to Council a recommendation for an
artist to complete the public art component for the East Campbell Avenue
Improvement Project;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Campbell hereby approves the preliminary design for the East Campbell Avenue
Improvement Project, finds the project to be categorically exempt under CEQA
Section 15301, and authorizes the Public Works Director to issue a Request for
Proposals for public art.
