Dear Mr. Helms:
Thank you for forwarding a copy of the proposed plan for the
relocation of the existing left-hand turn entrance drive from
Hamilton Avenue into the Hamilton Plaza Shopping Center.
Our Design Department has reviewed that plan and believes that
the location of your proposed stacking lane and one-way entrance
drive from Hamilton Avenue would create too great a distance
between the stacking lane and the point of entrance to allow
safe passage of vehicles to cross in front of oncoming traffic.
We, therefore, propose the alternative as attached by overlay
to your plan which is enclosed.
This alternate proposal would allow two-way traffic from a new
entrance drive adjacent to the easter1ymost entranceway current-
ly used for mostly service traffic. The westerlymost entrance
on Hamilton would remain for two-way traffic, but would, however,
be restricted to right turn only and, therefore, only eastbound
traffic. Similarly, easterlymost entrance drive would also be
restricted to right hand turns and, therefore, eastbound traffic
on Hamilton Avenue.
We believe this alternate proposal will provide sufficient dis-
tance between the intersection and the area of left-hand turns
to allow westbound traffic to turn safely into the shopping
center.

In accordance with our telephone conversation
of this date, I have enclosed an additional copy of
the proposed modification to the Safeway Shopping Center's
access on Hamilton Avenue. You will recall that the
City of Campbell has offered to defray the cost of the
construction as shown on the drawing.
We are quite anxious to prosecute the work inas-
much as traffic volumes on Hamilton Avenue, at this time,
have made the existing median opening quite hazardous to
through traffic. Please advise me of your comments at
your earliest convenience.

No building permit shall be issued after the expiration date of any
