RESOLUTION NO. 9671
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF A TASK FORCE FOR THE
UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD TRAIL FOR SANTA CLARA COUNTY
WHEREAS, the Union Pacific Railroad Trail (Trail) is a route that runs through Santa
Clara County; and
WHEREAS, the Trail is included as a Regional Trail Route in the Santa Clara County
Trails Master Plan, as a Proposed Trail in the Santa Clara County General Plan, and as a
proposed Bicycle Corridor in the Santa Clara County Congestion Management Program; and
WHEREAS, the Trail is proposed for inclusion in the Valley Transportation Plan 2020 of
the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority; and
WHEREAS, the cities of Cupertino, San Jose, and Saratoga, the Town of Los Gatos, and
the Campbell Bicycle Advisory Committee are very interested in developing the Trail for both
recreational and commuting opportunities along the trackage of Union Pacific Railroad
Company; and
WHEREAS, a task force of citizens, including members of city bicycle advisory
committees should study the feasibility of the Trail;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Campbell
supports the creation of a task force of citizens from the cities of Campbell, Cupertino, San Jose,
and Saratoga and the Town of Los Gatos to study the feasibility of the Union Pacific Railroad
Trail.
