BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF CAMPBELL RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF A
SIGN PROGRAM (SA 99-12) INCLUDING AN EXPRESSWAY-
ORIENTED SIGN FOR A NEW HOTEL (LARKSPUR LANDING) TO
BE CONSTRUCTED ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT 550 W.
HAMILTON AVENUE IN A PD (PLANNED DEVELOPMENT)
ZONING DISTRICT. FILE NO. SA 99-12.
After notification and public hearing, as specified by law, and after presentation by the
Community Development Director, proponents and opponents, the hearing was closed.
After due consideration of all evidence presented, the Planning Commission finds as follows
with respect to application SA 99-12:
1. The proposed wall and monument signs identify the on site business.

identification and visibility of the new business, and will also best serve the traveling public

Based on the foregoing findings of fact, the Planning Commission further finds and concludes
that:
1. The proposed signs are consistent with the purposes of the Sign Ordinance by preserving and
improving the visual character of the community.
2. The proposed signs will not be detrimental to the public welfare or persons in the
neighborhood or the City as a whole and allows for reasonable business identification.

3. The proposed signs promote the economic vitality of the city by maintaining the
identification, visibility and individual character of the business.
Further, the applicant is notified as part of this application that they are required to comply with
all applicable Codes and Ordinances of the City of Campbell and the State of California which
pertain to this application and are not herein specified. And, that this approval is granted subject
to the following Conditions of Approval.
Approved Plans: Approval is granted for an exception to the sign regulations to allow a sign
program identifying the hotel to be located at 550 West Hamilton Avenue. Approval shall
substantially comply with the plans as submitted by Ad Art dated 7/6/98, except as herein
modified by the Planning Commission.
Sign Deletion: The proposed wall sign on the building's east elevation is not approved in that
it is found to not be necessary for business identification. The Community Development
Director may approve flags depicting the hotel logo which are proportional and
architecturally compatible to the hotel design and similar to national and state flags which
may be installed.
3. Building Division Requirements: Applicant shall comply with all Building Code
requirements and obtain necessary permits as determined by the Building Division.
4. City Council Approval: City Council approval is required for any expressway oriented sign
as provided in section 21.53.030 (c) of the Sign Ordinance.
