CC Resolution 10923 RESOLUTION NO. 10923 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL COMMENDING EDWARD NUNES FOR THIRTY-FOUR YEARS OF SERVICE WHEREAS, Edward Nunes was hired by the City of Campbell on July 1, 1974; and WHEREAS, during his thirty-four years of service, Ed Nunes worked in the Public Works Department Maintenance Division serving as a Mechanic III from July 1, 1974 through July 1, 1983; and since July 1, 1983 has served as the City's Equ ipment Maintenance Supervisor; and WHEREAS, Ed Nunes oversees the operations of the Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance Shop; and WHEREAS, Ed Nunes was instrumental in implementing the structure of the current Motor Pool program and budget; and WHEREAS, Ed Nunes is responsible for procuring the City's fleet and maintenance equipment, taking users needs into consideration; and WHEREAS, Ed Nunes has been commended on numerous occasions by our Police Department for going above and beyond the call of duty; and WHEREAS, Prior to the City contracting with the Santa Clara County Fire Department, Ed serviced the many fire trucks and other emergency equipment; and WHEREAS, Ed Nunes is considered the "resident expert" and assists the Police Department in vehicle inspections for proper operation and maintenance for vehicles involved in accidents; and WHEREAS, Ed Nunes administers and oversees the Annual Fuel Contract; and WHEREAS, Ed Nunes is responsible for maintaining over 350 pieces of equipment, not including the vintage and special units owned and operated by the City; and WHEREAS, Ed Nunes is instrumental in keeping the Service Center in compliance with annual safety inspections; and WHEREAS, Ed Nunes annually participates in the "Ground Hog Job Shadow Day" for the Campbell Unified Middle and High School students; wherein students shadow shop personnel and are taught the principles of vehicle maintenance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell hereby expresses its appreciation to Edward Nunes for thirty-four years of loyal and valuable service and best wishes for a fulfilling retirement.
