RESOLUTION NO. 9647
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMPBELL CONGRATULATING KlLLROY PEST CONTROL, INC.
ON BEING SELECTED "BUSINESS OF THE YEAR"
WHEREAS, Killroy Pest Control is a family owned and managed business founded in April
1956 by Phil and Norma Olavarri, and the company has a long standing reputation for being
honest, friendly business people who offered a thorough service at a fair price; and
WHEREAS, Phil and Norma Olavarri initially operated Killroy Pest Control out of their
residence but moved to a new structure on Dell Avenue in 1963 as the company expanded; and
WHEREAS, Phil Olavarri felt it extremely important that Killroy Pest Control be involved in
industry associations and served as Chairman of the Santa Clara County District for the State
Pest Control Association and on the Board for the National Pest Control Association; and
WHEREAS, Killroy Pest Control has been a long time member of the Campbell Chamber of
Commerce, and Phil Olavarri served as Chamber President and worked on numerous
legislative, membership and festival committees, and served on many other committees and
boards through the years including the Advisory Board of Adult Education; the Private
Industry Council; the Grand Jury, and the Optimist Club; and
WHEREAS, Lynn Olavarri-Schmidt, daughter of Phil and Norma, joined the Killroy team in
1991 and was soon recruited to the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and began
taking Phil's place on numerous committees; and
WHEREAS, Killroy Pest Control supports many community events including the Prunefestival
and the Campbell Education Foundation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Campbell City Council congratulate
Killroy Pest Control on being selected "Business of the Year" and recognize the many
contributions this family-owned business has made to the Campbell community.
