A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
SUPPORTING PROPOSITION 13-SAFE DRINKING WATER, CLEAN
WATER, WATERSHED PROTECTION, AND FLOOD PROTECTION BOND
ACT
WHEREAS, the State Legislature has placed Proposition 13 on the March 7, 2000
ballot; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 13 would provide $1.97 billion for a safe drinking water, water
quality, flood protection and water reliability program; and
WHEREAS, recognizing the importance of these programs, Proposition 3 received
overwhelming bi-partisan support form the State Legislature; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 13 helps meet safe drinking water standards to protect public
health; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 13 fights pollution in lakes and rivers along our coast, protects
water quality from pesticides and agricultural drainage, improves water treatment plants,
cleans up urban streams and controls seawater intrusion into clean water supplies; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 13 provides new water through conservation, recycling,
underground storage and better use of reservoirs; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 13 supports flood protection programs that will protect lives
and avert billions of dollars in property damage, using floodplain management techniques
that also protect agriculture and preserve habitat; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 13 does not raise taxes, does limit administrative costs, and
does qualify California for new federal funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Campbell supports the
passage of Proposition 13 on the March 7, 2000 ballot.
