RESOLUTION NO. 10957
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL APPROVING PLANS
AND SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZING CALL FOR BIDS - HAMILTON AVENUE/PHOENIX
DRIVE SIGNALIZATION PROJECT (CIP No. 08-05), APPROVING A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT,
AND AUTHORIZING PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO AWARD PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 10744 authorizing the Public Works Director to
submit a Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant application to Caltrans for the
Hamilton Avenue/Phoenix Drive Signalization Project (CIP No. 08-05); and
WHEREAS, the City was awarded $342,000 in funding from the Federal HSIP Program; and
WHEREAS, on April 17, 2008, the Public Works Department held a public meeting at Payne
Elementary School to discuss the proposed traffic signal at Hamilton Avenue/Phoenix Drive; and
WHEREAS, all residents in attendance of the public meeting supported the installation of a traffic
signal; and
WHEREAS, Caltrans has approved the City's request for authorization to proceed with construction
of the project; and
WHEREAS, the project would install a traffic signal that would signalize the school crossing across
Hamilton Avenue and include the installation of various traffic signal equipment, underground
conduits, conductors, pull boxes, and appurtenances; and
WHEREAS, the HSIP program requires a ten percent local match of $38,000; and
WHEREAS, a budget adjustment of $38,000 is required to pay for the local match.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell hereby
approves the project plans and specifications for the Hamilton Avenue/Phoenix Drive Signalization
Project (08-05), and authorizes the Public Works Director to solicit formal bids for the project
construction;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell authorizes the Public
Works Director to award the project to the lowest responsible bidder;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell reallocate $38,000 in
Construction Tax funds from the City's Bike/Ped Traffic Safety Program Project (05-06), to
Hamilton/Phoenix Signalization Project 08-05 and related transfers.

REASON FOR REQUEST - BE SPECIFIC:
Reclassify construction tax funding ($38.000) from the Traffic Safety Improvement project (CIP 05-(6) to the
Hamilton/Phoenix Signal project (CIP 08-(5). Change funding source for CIP 08-05 from State Safe Routes
to Schools ($380.000) to Federal Highway Safety Improvements Program ($342.000).
