RESOLUTION NO. 10980
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
COMMENDING CLAUDIA CAUTHORN FOR TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS, Claudia Cauthorn was hired by the City of Campbell on November 10, 1980
as its first Community Center Coordinator, and after a short 7-month departure, again on
January 7, 1985 as the Recreation and Community Services Director;
WHEREAS, Claudia Cauthorn has overseen the tremendous growth of the Recreation
and Community Services Department, including the management of the Building Maintenance
Division, the Historic Resources Division and the more recent addition of the Theatre Division;
and
WHEREAS, Claudia Cauthorn was instrumental in the successful development of
leasing operations at the Community Center; and
WHEREAS, Claudia Cauthorn oversaw the relocation and growth of the Recreation &
Community Services Department as they moved to the Community Center and expanded
programs, classes and services with the new facilities available expanding offerings from the 42
classes that were offered in 1985 to the 850 that are currently being offered; and
WHEREAS, Claudia Cauthorn was instrumental in the development of the Theatre's
support organization, the Friends of the Heritage as well as the renovation and re-opening of the
Campbell Heritage Theatre on February 14th, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Claudia Cauthorn has been an instrumental member of the Executive Team
and worked closely with the Public Works Department on the development of two new parks
and the renovation of three others; and
WHEREAS, Claudia Cauthorn has served in a number of leadership positions in the
professional organizations that serve parks and recreation and is well respected in the parks
and recreation profession; and
WHEREAS, Claudia Cauthorn's leadership is responsible for the professional
development of the Recreation and Community Services Department staff and quality programs
that we have today as well as to the development and maintenance of the well-used public
recreation facilities that our community enjoys and values.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby expresses its appreciation to Claudia Cauthorn for twenty-eight years of loyal and
dedicated service and best wishes for a fulfilling retirement.
