A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMPBELL COMMENDING CHIEF DAVID L. GULLO
ON HIS 29 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
WHEREAS, Chief David L. Gullo began his career with the City of Campbell as a volunteer Police Explorer
in July of 1975 and then as a Police Reserve Officer in January of 1980; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gullo was hired as a Police Officer on July 28, 1980; and was promoted to Agent in 1985,
Sergeant in 1986, Lieutenant in 1990, Captain in 1995, and Chief in 1996; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gullo has been a Field Training Officer, Traffic Unit Manager, Sexual Assault and Child
Abuse Investigator, Crime Scene Response Team Member, SWAT Team Member, Team Leader, and
Commander; and
WHEREAS, Chief GuJlois a distinguished graduate of the F.8.1. National Academy Class #172; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gullo managed several important programs including Campbell's innovative Driving
Awareness Program and the State's first Photo Radar Program; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gullo served as the Police Chief's representative on the County Drug Task Force and
CAL 1.0.; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gullo has been responsible for managing the City of Campbell's Fire Protection and
Emergency Medical Services contract, the Animal Services contract, and Emergency Disaster
Preparedness for the City; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gullo assisted with the development of a cooperative movement between Santa Clara
County Law Enforcement Agencies and the Department of Family and Children Services for the safe and
appropriate placement of at-risk children; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gullo is a Nationally-recognized facilitator and instructor on a variety of Leadership and
Law Enforcement related topics; and
WHEREAS, at the time of his retirement, Chief Gullo was the Senior Law Enforcement Executive in Santa
Clara County; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gullo's guidance was instrumental in the development of the next generation of
Department leaders in which they will continue his legacy of providing excellent Police services to the
community they serve; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell recognizes Chief
David L. Gullo on his retirement from the City of Campbell and commends him for his 29 years of
outstanding service.
