RESOLUTION NO. 11003
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING THE CONCEPTUAL DESIGN AND SCOPE FOR THE ORCHARD CITY
BANQUET HALL PROJECT; AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
CONSULTANT SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH BEVERLY PRIOR ARCHITECTS; AND
APPROVING THE SELECTION OF ALBER AND LUNA DE MATTEIS FOR
CONCEPTUAL PUBLIC ART DESIGN
WHEREAS, staff met with the City Council in a study session on February 3, 2009
and presented the OCBH project scope and conceptual design, and
WHEREAS, the Council indicated support for the revised scope and conceptual
design, and
WHEREAS, staff recommends amending the consultant services agreement with
Beverly Prior Architects for final project design of the Orchard City Banquet Hall
Renovation Project to include additive alternates and LEED Silver Certification, and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that final design and construction administration will not
exceed $297,000, and
WHEREAS, the City previously issued a Request for Proposals and interviewed
public artists for the East Campbell Avenue Improvement Project, and
WHEREAS, the artists Alber and Luna De Matteis were finalists for the East
Campbell Avenue Improvement Project and their art is well suited to the OCBH project,
and the Council wishes to include public art in the design.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby approves the conceptual design and scope for the Orchard City Banquet Hall Project;
authorizes the Public Works Director to negotiate an amendment to the Consultant Services
Agreement with Beverly Prior Architects for Phase III design services in an amount not to
exceed $297,000; approves the selection of Alber and Luna De Matteis as artists; and
authorizes the Public Works Director to negotiate and execute an artist agreement in an
amount not to exceed $10,000.
