RESOLUTION NO. 11004
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY COUNCIL CONGRATULATING
BETTY DEAL, 2008 CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Betty Deal has been selected by the Campbell Chamber of Commerce as 2008
Citizen of the Year in recognition of many years of her unselfish time and expertise to advance
the aims of the Campbell Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Betty Deal will be honored at the annual "Citizen of the Year" celebration on March
28, 2009; and
WHEREAS, in her tenure as Executive Director, Betty Deal has worked tirelessly to make the
Chamber's two festivals, Boogie on the Bayou and the Oktoberfest, well known throughout the
Bay Area, resulting in highly successful events for the Chamber; and
WHEREAS, Betty Deal has elevated the Campbell Chamber of Commerce to a highly respected
voice in the community, through her tireless efforts in promoting the Chamber itself and the
Campbell community; and
WHEREAS, Betty Deal has established personal relations with community groups, political
entities, other chambers, and current and past chamber members, reflecting in the development
of a core of willing volunteers; and
WHEREAS, Betty Deal continues to be a leader in the community furthering the work of other
non-profit agencies, including the Toy Program and the Carol of Lights; and
WHEREAS, Betty Deal has led the Chamber in cosponsoring the Campbell Highland Games
and she currently serves on the Friends of the Heritage Theatre Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
congratulates Betty Deal on being named Campbell's 2008 Citizen of the Year, and recognizes
her service to the Campbell community and continued involvement in community and civic affairs.
