PLANNING COMMISSION
CITY OF CAMPBELLL, CALIFORNIA
After notification and public hearing as specified by law on proposed
amendments to the text of Chapter 21.08 (R-1 Single Family District)
of the Campbell Municipal Code, and after presentation by the
Planning Director, proponents and opponents, the hearing was closed.
(TA 84-OS).
After due consideration of all evidence presented and based upon the
following findings, the Commission did determine that there was
significant need to amend Chapter 21.08 of the Campbell Municipal
Code.
1. That the proposed amendment will establish regulations for
large family (7-12 children) day care homes on R-1 Single
Family Residential zoned lots..
2. That the proposed amendment will require any large family day
care home to apply for a use permit to use a lot zoned for
single-family dwellings..
3. That the proposed amendment will not be detrimental
to the health, safety, peace, morals, comfort, or
general welfare of persons residing or working in
the neighborhood of such proposed use, or be
detrimental or injurious to property and improve-
ments in the neighborhood or to the general
welfare of the City.
The Planning Commission does hereby recommend that the City Council
adopt the Ordinance attached hereton as Exhibit A enacting the
necessary legislation to make the proposed text amendment effective.

BEING AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
CAMPBELL AMENDING CHAPTER 21.08
(SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT)
OF THE CAMPBELL MUNICIPAL CODE (TA 84-05).
The City Council of the City of Campbell does ordain as follows:
SECTION ONE: That Chapter/Section 21.08 of the Campbell
Municipal Code be amended as set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto.
SECTION TWO: This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30)
days following its passage and adoption and shall be published once
within fifteen (15) days upon passage and adoption in the Campbell
Press, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Campbell,
County of Santa Clara.

EXHIBIT A
21,08.030 Use Permitted with iJse Permit.
The following uses shall require use permits as provided
in Chapter 21.64:
(1) Churches and religious institutions;
(2) Public and private schools;
(3) Parks, playgrounds and commtmity facilities;
(4) Transitional uses of property for parking or loading
(other than vehicle or boat sales or rental yards)
where R-1 lot side line abuts upon a lot in a C or T1
District; provided such transitional use does not extend
more than 100 feet from the boundary of the less restricted
district which it adjoins. All parking and loading spaces
shall be developed as required in Chapter 21.64.
(5) Large family day care homes (7-12 children), subject to
the following standards:
A. On-site parking shall be provided for all employees.
B. A safe drop-off/pick-up area for the children must be
provided.
(6) Other uses which are determined by the Planning Commission
to be compatible with the residential character of the
