CC Resolution 11034 RESOLUTION NO. 11034 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL DECLARING THE MONTH OF MAY 2009 AS WATER AWARENESS MONTH WHEREAS, water is California's most precious and finite resource; and WHEREAS, a safe and reliable water supply provides for a high quality of life through public health protection, fire fighting protection, and economic prosperity; and, WHEREAS, the Santa Clara Valley is experiencing the third year of below normal rainfall and a second year of reduced water deliveries from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta; and, WHEREAS, the Santa Clara Valley Water District has called for a 15 percent mandatory conservation in response to the drought; and, WHEREAS, local governments, water agencies and companies, agriculture, industry, environmentalists, and concerned citizens are working together to conserve and protect the water supplies; and, WHEREAS, during May 2009 water agencies and companies, cities, counties, and organizations throughout California will organize activities to educate the public about water awareness. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does hereby proclaim the month of May 2009, as Water Awareness Month within the City of Campbell, and urges all citizens to join in supporting local water agencies and companies in their efforts to help Californians use water more wisely.
