RESOLUTION NO. 11035
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
DECLARING THE MONTH OF MAY 2009 AS
MENTAL HEALTH MONTH
WHEREAS, Mental Health illnesses afflict individuals without regard to their age,
gender, race, ethnicity, religion or socioeconomic status and thousands of Santa Clara
County residents will experience the effects of mental health illnesses or serious
emotional disorders in themselves or a family member at some point in their lives; and
WHEREAS, Mental Health problems drastically change the thoughts, moods and
behaviors of individuals with mental health illnesses that result in devastating effects on
their relationships, work habits and confidence, and
WHEREAS, Mental Health illnesses and disorders have stereotypes and stigmas
attached to them that discourage individuals from seeking the medical and psychological
attention they need; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Mental Heath Department works to deliver
services in the least restrictive, non-stigmatizing, most accessible environment within a
coordinated system of community and self-care that respects the person's family and
loved ones, language, culture, ethnicity, gender and sexual identity; and
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell is hosting a Mental Health Workshop on May 28,
2009 to focus on mental health issues, including public perceptions of mental health
issues, and how to obtain support from local resources for patients and families.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Campbell, does hereby proclaim the month of May 2009 to be:
Mental Health Month
