RESOLUTION NO. 11050
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A CARNIVAL PERMIT TO THE
ST. GEORGE COPTIC ORTHODOX CHURCH THE CARNIVAL COMMONLY
KNOWN AS THE EGYPTIAN FESTIVAL OF CAMPBELL LOCATED AT
395 W RINCON AVENUE, AUGUST 28TH TO AUGUST 29TH, 2009.
WHEREAS, After notification and public hearing and presentation by the Police
Department, after due consideration of all the evidence presented, the City
council does find as follows:
1. The dates and hours of operation for the carnival shall be as follows:
Friday August 28th 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Saturday August 29th 10:00 am - 9:00 pm
2. Food: The majority of the food for the event will be prepared by Grill
Master Catering, a licensed caterer, at their kitchen facility located at
505 E. Santa Clara St, San Jose. A barbeque will also be used at the
event site to prepare food. The kitchen and hall at the United Church of
Christ located at 400 West Campbell Avenue will be used for food service.
The food service location and the barbeque area will only operate after
receiving approval by the Santa Clara County Environmental Health
Department.
3. Game Booths: Parish volunteers will operate game booths. All booths will
only operate after receiving approval by Santa Clara county Central Fire
District
4. Promotions:
(a) Banners will be placed at St. George Coptic Orthodox Church located
at 395 W. Rincon Avenue and at United Church of Christ at 400 West
Campbell Avenue
(b) The following websites will also be used for advertising:
www.stqeorqechurch.orq and www.eqyptianfestivalca.com
(c) Local newspapers, radio and television.
5. Parkinq: Parking will be available at St. George Coptic Orthodox Church
located at 395 W. Rincon Avenue and at United Church of Christ located
at 400 West Campbell Avenue. Normal paths to and from the entrances
and exits will be available and festival volunteers will monitor these paths
to ensure that emergency and fire vehicles will have constant access to
the premises.
6. Security:
(a) Security will be provided by parish volunteers who have previous
experience as security guards.
WHEREAS, the City Council approves the application St. George Coptic
Orthodox Church for a Carnival permit and waives 50% of permit fees for the
Egyptian Festival of Campbell.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Campbell does hereby grant a Carnival permit to St. George Coptic Orthodox
Church.
