BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
RECOMMENDING CONSOLIDATION OF EXISTING GENERAL
PLAN ELEMENTS INTO A SINGLE DOCUMENT WITH A
COMMON FORMAT (GP 83-07) (CITY-INITIATED)
After notification and public hearing as specified by law on the propio5ed
consolidation of the existing General Plan Elements into a single dociunent
with a common format, and after presentation by the Planning Director, pro-
ponents and opponents, the hearing was closed.
After due consideration of all evidence presented, the Planning Commission
does find as follows:
1. The proposed consolidation of all existing General Plan Elements
into a single document with a cotrunon format the policies of the
City would be more readily available to the public.
2. The proposed consolidation of all existing General Plan Elements
is in the best interests of the City.
The Planning Commission does hereby adopt a resolution recommending that the
City Council adopt the ordinance attached hereto as Exhibit A, making effective
the proposed consolidation.

BEING AN ORDINANCE CONSOLIDATING THE EXISTING
ELEMENTS OF THE GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF
CAMPBELL (GP 83-07)
The City Council of the City of Campbell does ordain as follows:
SECTION ONE: That the existing General Plan Elements of the City of
Campbell, together with amen~nents thereto, is hereby consolidated into a
single clocwnent with a common format.
SECTION TWO: This ordinance shall become effective thirty days
following its passage and adoption and shall be published once with
fifteen days upon passage and adoption in the Campbell Press, a news-
paper of general circulation in the City of Campbell, County of Santa
Clara.

AI~'lENDING THE OONSERVATION, OPEN SPACE, SEISMIC, NOISE, SAFETY,
AND SCENIC HIC~9AYS ELEMINTS OF THE GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF
CAA'IPBELL, CALIFORNIA (GP 83-07) .
At present the General Plan of the City of Campbell consists of individually
adopted elements, which were adopted at different times and without a coirQnon
format. The purpose of this ordinance is to consolidate the referenced ele-
ments into a single document using a common format throughout. The general
content of the General Plan Elements consolidated by this ordinance is des-
cribed below.
1. Conservation Element -provides for the conservation, development,
and utilization of natural resources.
2. Open Space Element -provides open space standards and goals for
the City.
3. Seismic Safety Element -provides for the identification and
appraisal of seismic hazards such as ground shaking, ground
failure, mudslides, landslides and slope stability.
4. Noise Element -provides for quantification of community
noise environment for both short-term and long-term levels
of growth and traffic activity.
5. Safety Element -provides for the protection of the community
from hazards by providing for adequate levels of water supply,
evacuation routes, minimum road widths, and clearances around
structures.
6. Scenic Highways Element -provides for the identification,
development, establishment, and protection of scenic highways.
Note: The above is a summary of major highlights of the proposed ordinance.
A reading of the entire ordinance may be necessary to obtain a full under-
standing of all the changes proposed. A certified copy of the full text
of the proposed ordinance is posted and may be read in the City Clerk's
Office at 75 N. Central Avenue, Campbell, Califo mia; and/or a copy may
be obtained from that office based on the City's actual cost. In addition,
anyone wishing information regarding when this ordinance will be or has been
adopted by the City Council should contact the City Clerk's Office.
