A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO SUBMIT
APPLICATIONS FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (HSIP)
FUNDS FOR THE HAMILTON AVENUE/HIGHWAY 17 SOUTHBOUND OFF-RAMP
WIDENING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Hamilton Avenue/Highway 17 Southbound Off-ramp Widening Project would
add storage capacity to the off-ramp and reduce the possibility of queues backing up to the
freeway mainline; and
WHEREAS, the project scope involves the design and construction of the off-ramp widening;
and
WHEREAS, the preliminary cost estimate for the project is $1,448,150; and
WHEREAS, the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant program is a federally-
funded program administered by Caltrans to improve traffic safety; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project would improve traffic safety and is therefore eligible for HSIP
funding; and
WHEREAS, the HSIP grant program requires a ten percent local match.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Campbell that the
Public Works Director is hereby authorized to execute and file a Highway Safety Improvement
Program (HSIP) grant application for funding under the Highway Safety Improvement Program
in the amount of $900,000 for the Hamilton Avenue/Highway 17 Southbound Off-ramp Widening
Project;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Campbell will provide for a total of $548,150 in
local match funds consisting of private development fees.
