RESOLUTION NO. 11120
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CAMPBELL CONGRATULATING DR. JOHANNA VANDERMOLEN ON
HER RETIREMENT AS SUPERINTENDENT OF THE CAMPBELL UNION SCHOOL
DISTRICT
WHEREAS, Dr. Johanna VanderMolen was appointed Superintendent of the Campbell
Union School District in August 2000; and
WHEREAS, during Dr. VanderMolen's administration, the 7,300 student, K-8 district
made great strides in raising student achievement and maintaining small classes, full-
day kindergarten, art, music and athletics despite weathering several major budget
reductions; and
WHEREAS, under Dr. VanderMolen's leadership, CUSD Extensions, a district program
providing home schooling, district-operated afterschool and preschool programs, and
fee-based childcare and summer camp, was successfully launched; and
WHEREAS, Dr. VanderMolen has been active in numerous educational organizations
including the Association of California School Administrators and Santa Clara County
Superintendent's Association where she served as Chairwoman in 2007; and
WHEREAS, Dr. VanderMolen was the recipient of the YWCA's Tribute to Women
Award in 2008, a competitive distinction honoring outstanding women executives in
silicon valley; and
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell has worked with Dr. VanderMolen and her staff on
many collaborative projects for the benefit of the residents of Campbell.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby commends Dr. Johanna VanderMolen for her exemplary service and leadership
as Superintendent of the Campbell Union School District.
