A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING THE ARTIST SELECTION AND AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS
DIRECTOR TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH
MICHAEL MCLAUGHLIN FOR THE PUBLIC ART COMPONENT OF
THE STOJANOVICH FAMILY PARK PROJECT (08-10)
WHEREAS, on September 4, 2007, the City Council authorized the City Manager to
execute a purchase agreement fora 1.32 acre property at 316 Union Avenue for the
development of a public park; and
WHEREAS, staff reviewed the public art process with City Council in study sessions
held on September 15, 2009 and January 5, 2010; and
WHEREAS, in December 2009 staff released a request for qualifications for the public
art component of the Stojanovich Family Park Project (08-10); and
WHEREAS, following a review of the qualifications, six artists were short listed for
interviews and five artists accepted and were interviewed; and
WHEREAS, after interviews, the artist Michael McLaughlin was found to be the best
candidate for completion of the public art component; and
WHEREAS, funding for the public art component is included in the Stojanovich Family
Park Project budget and no additional allocations are necessary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby approves the artist selection and authorizes the Public Works Director to
negotiate and execute a contract for public art with Michael McLaughlin in an amount
not to exceed $25,000 for design, fabrication and installation of public art for the
Stojanovich Family Park Project (08-10).
