RESOLUTION NO. 11190
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL PROCLAIMING:
JULY IS PARKS & RECREATION MONTH
Parks Make Life Better!SM
WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation make lives and communities better now and in the future; and
WHEREAS, Parks provide access to the serenity and the inspiration of nature and outdoor
spaces to play and exercise; and
WHEREAS, Parks preserve and protect the historic, natural and cultural resources in our
community; and
WHEREAS, Recreation fosters human development, providing positive alternatives for children
and youth during non-school hours to reduce crime and mischief thereby helping children and
youth develop and grow into healthy and productive adults; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation offer places, spaces and programs that facilitate social
connections, human development, therapy, the arts, and lifelong learning; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation strengthens community image, sense of place and increases
cultural unity; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation provides opportunities for directed and self-directed activities
which encourage healthy movement; and
WHEREAS, Thousands of Campbell children, adults and seniors benefit from the wide range of
services, facilities and programs provided at the Community Center and local parks by the
Campbell Recreation & Community Services Department; and
WHEREAS, The City of Campbell urges all its residents to recognize that parks and recreation
enrich the lives of its residents and visitors as well as adding value to the community's homes,
neighborhoods and businesses;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Campbell hereby proclaims that Parks
Make Life Better and the month of July, 2010 as "Parks & Recreation Month" and in doing so,
urges all citizens to use and enjoy our parks and recreational amenities.
