CC Resolution 11229RESOLUTION NO. 11229
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
RENAMING THE CAMPBELL BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO THE
CAMPBELL BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell has established a Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) with five
members appointed by the City Council to provide valuable guidance to the City regarding
bicycle policies and programs; and
WHEREAS, a majority of cities in Santa Clara County have Bicycle and Pedestrian Committees
(BPACs); and
WHEREAS, pedestrians can offer insights for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), safe
routes to school, sidewalk obstructions and closures, and pedestrian plans that can be helpful
for pursuing grant funds; and
WHEREAS, the Campbell Avenue Portals Project, Harriet/McCoy Enhanced Crosswalk Project,
and Countdown Pedestrian Signals Projects are examples where the BAC provided input and
supported grant applications for projects related to pedestrians; and
WHEREAS, renaming the BAC to a BPAC would expand the committee's scope of
responsibilities while keeping the same number of committee members and not diminishing the
committee's focus on bicycle concerns; and
WHEREAS, no changes to bylaws or membership constitution are necessary; and
WHEREAS, on July 21, 2010, the BAC approved a recommendation to the City Council to
change the committee's name to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell approves
the renaming of the Campbell Bicycle Advisory Committee to the Campbell Bicycle and
Pedestrian Advisory Committee.
