A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
COMMENDING KATHY WHITCOMB FOR THIRTY-FOUR YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS, Kathy. Whitcomb was_ hired by the City of Campbell on September 6, 1976
as a Community Service Aide and later promoted to Senior Services Supervisor.
WHEREAS, Kathy Whitcomb has led the Senior Services Division of the Recreation &
Community Services Department for thirty-four years and has been instrumental in the
development of services and programs for Older Adults in Campbell and throughout
Santa Clara County; she has also been an integral. part of the daily operations of the
Campbell Adult Center and Lunch Program and
WHEREAS, Kathy Whitcomb has served in a number of leadership positions in the
professional organizations that serve the parks and recreation field as well as the aging
services field, is well respected and has been recognized by the California Park &
Recreation Society and other local organizations; and
WHEREAS, Kathy Whitcomb has introduced many innovative programs to enhance the
quality of life for those who are 50+ including one of her model programs, "Walk A
Golden Mile," that grew from a local event to one being used throughout California; and
WHEREAS, Kathy Whitcomb has been an essential part of the Recreation &
Community Service Department team for thirty-four years and has dedicated her talents
to making Campbell a better place to live, work and grow older.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
does hereby express its appreciation to Kathy Whitcomb for thirty-four ,years of loyal
and dedicated service and offers its best wishes for a fulfilling retirement.
