A RESOLUTION OF THE CAMPBELL CITY COUNCIL HONORING 7ANE P. KENNEDY FOR
HER YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY
WHEREAS, on December 7, 2010, Councilmember and former Mayor Jane Kennedy attended
her last City Council meeting after 27 years of dedicated service to the City;
WHEREAS, Kennedy was first appointed to the Planning Commission in October of 1978 where
she served before being elected to the Campbell City Council in November 1998 and served as
the City's Mayor in 2000, 2005 and 2009;
WHEREAS, Jane Kennedy was a Valley Transportation Authority Board member for 5 years and
served as its Chair in 2002 and in this post, was instrumental in bringing three light rail stations
to Campbell; and
WHEREAS, she served as a Board member of the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority.
WHEREAS, she was selected as the Campbell Chamber of Commerce's "Citizen of the Year" in
1991;
WHEREAS, Jane Kennedy was a founding member and Vice-President of Women in Business for
the Campbell Chamber of Commerce;
WHEREAS, she was also a founding member and President of the Campbell Museum
Foundation;
WHEREAS, Jane Kennedy served as a Council member liaison to both the Campbell Historical
Museum and Ainsley House Foundation and to the Friends of the Heritage Theatre;
WHEREAS, Jane is the former Chairperson of the City's annual Prune Festival and also the
annual Campbell Firefighters' Holiday Toy Donation program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council and staff of the City of Campbell
express their deepest appreciation to Jane Kennedy for her years of public service to the
residents, businesses, and visitors of the City of Campbell, and wish her well in the next phase of
her life.
