A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL HONORING DANIEL
RICH UPON HIS RESIGNATION AS CAMPBELL CITY MANAGER
WHEREAS, Daniel Rich began his professional career in local government in 1992 when he was first
hired as a Management Analyst for the City of Sunnyvale, and was eventually promoted to Assistant
to the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, his path to becoming a City Manager continued on at the City of Belmont where he
served as Assistant City Manager and Interim City Manager from 2001 to 2005; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Rich was hired as Campbell's City Manager in 2005; and
WHEREAS, among his accomplishments in Campbell, Mr. Rich promoted "NextGen" initiatives by
actively serving on atwo-County City Managers committee to identify and improve programs geared
toward preparing management talent in the region; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure in Campbell, Dan Rich was a leader in exploring and advocating
pension reform in local government which included authoring a comprehensive white paper on the
subject, and resulted in Campbell being the first city in the County of Santa Clara to adopt a 2-tier
pension formula supported by all labor groups; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Rich lead the way for two major budget correction strategies totaling $5.1 million
and explored new revenue sources for the City resulting in the successful passage of three separate
revenue measures by Campbell voters; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Rich supervised some of the City's most significant projects including the Orchard
City Banquet Hall Improvements; East Campbell Avenue Improvements, Library Needs Assessment,
Museum Strategic Plan Update, webcasting of public meetings and Ainsley House Roof Repair
project; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Rich is active in the City Management profession and is respected by his
colleagues in the Santa Clara County/Cities Managers' Association and the League of California
Cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council and staff of the City of Campbell
express their deepest appreciation to Daniel "Dan" Rich for his years of public service to the City of
Campbell, and wish him well as City Manager of Mountain View.
