A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR
COMMUNITY DESIGN & TRANSPORTATION (CDT) FUNDS
FOR THE HACIENDA AVENUE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Hacienda Avenue Improvement Project would construct pedestrian-
and bicycle-friendly improvements that would link Hacienda Avenue with Winchester
Boulevard, a VTA corridor; and
WHEREAS, the preliminary cost estimate is $4,645,600 for the project; and
WHEREAS, the Community Design & Transportation (CDT) capital grant program is a
federally-funded program administered by the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) to
fund capital projects that enhance connections with transit facilities, improve the
pedestrian environment, enhance economic vitality, and improve community
connectivity and sense of place; and
WHEREAS, the CDT-eligible portions of work in the Hacienda Avenue Improvement
Project are estimated to cost $680,000; and
WHEREAS, the CDT grant provides a maximum $1.5 million per project and requires a
minimum 20 percent local match; and
WHEREAS, the CDT grant application would be a request for $544,000 in CDT grant
funds; and
WHEREAS, should the City successfully apply for the CDT grant, the City would be
required to provide a local match of $136,000; and
WHEREAS, the current sources of funds are sufficient to provide for the local match
and no additional local funds are required..
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Campbell
that the City Engineer is hereby authorized to submit a CDT grant application for the
amount of $544,000 for the Hacienda Avenue Improvement Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Campbell will provide for the project a
total of $136,000 in local matching funds for the CDT capital grant.
