RESOLUTION NO. 9588
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMPBELL APPROVING AN EXPRESSWAY -ORIENTED SIGN
FOR A NEW HOTEL (LARKSPUR LANDING) TO BE
CONSTRUCTED ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT 550 w.
HAMIL TON AVENUE IN A PD (pLANNED DEVELOPMENT)
ZONING DISTRICT. FILE NO. SA 99-12.
After notification and public hearing, as specified by law, and after presentation by the
Community Development Director, proponents and opponents, the hearing was closed.
After due consideration of all evidence presented, the City Council finds as follows with respect
to application SA 99-12:
1. The proposed expressway-oriented wall sign identifies the on site business.
2. The hotel business is depend upon the traveling business person who may not be familiar
with the area and business location. Adequate signing assist the traveling public in locating
this business.
3. The hotel use is so situated adjacent to a County Expressway that expressway oriented
signing provides adequate identification afforded similarly situated lodging uses in the
community.
4. The proposed size of the wall sign is proportional to the building frontage and facade and is
no larger than necessary to provide adequate identification.
5. The design of the proposed signs complement the architectural style of the building.
6. The expressway-oriented sign will promote the economic viability of the City by providing
adequate identification and visibility of the new business, and will also best serve the
traveling public and is in keeping with the principles and purposes of the City's Sign
Ordinance.
Based on the foregoing findings of fact, the City Council further finds and concludes that:
1. The proposed sign is consistent with the purposes of the Sign Ordinance by preserving and
improving the visual character of the community.
2. The proposed sign will not be detrimental to the public welfare or persons in the
neighborhood or the City as a whole and allows for reasonable business identification.

3. The proposed sign promotes the economic vitality of the city by maintaining the
identification, visibility and individual character of the business.
