RESOLUTION NO. 9506
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMPBELL CONGRATULATING A-TOOL SHED
ON BEING SELECTED "BUSINESS OF THE YEAR"
WHEREAS, A-Tool Shed was founded by Robert and Geneva McArdell in 1945 and dealt primarily
with war surplus equipment; and
WHEREAS, Larry Pedersen married Bonnie McArdell, daughter of Robert and Geneva McArdell,
and worked part-time at A-Tool Shed while attending school; and
WHEREAS, Larry Pedersen left school to help run the family business when Bob McArdell died in
1964; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Larry Pedersen, the company has grown to seven stores located
in Santa Cruz, Milpitas, Santa Clara, Watsonville, Morgan Hill, Hollister and Campbell, and
employs approximately 100 employees, many of whom have worked for the company for twenty
years; and
WHEREAS, Larry's three sons have become part of the family business; Robert is General
Manager and Chief Financial Officer; Eric is a driver for the company; and Lars serves as Regional
Manager for the south county stores; and
WHEREAS, A-Tool Shed has given strong support to many organizations in the community loaning
equipment, manpower, and donating funds; and
WHEREAS, Larry Pedersen is largely responsible for the esteem in which A-Tool Shed is held
donating much of his personal time to the community including serving two terms as President of the
Campbell Chamber of Commerce, and serving as Past President of the Campbell Kiwanis and Lt.
Governor of Division 12.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Campbell City Council congratulates A-Tool
Shed on being selected "Business of the Year" and recognizes the many contributions A-Tool Shed
has made to the Campbell community.
