CC Resolution 9531 RESOLUTION NO. 9531 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL AUTHORIZING THE PARTICIPATION IN THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY CITIES ASSOCIATION GRAFFITI PREVENTION CAMPAIGN WHEREAS, graffiti is a blight on our society that remains a persistent and prevalent problem despite the years of hard work by the community to eradicate graffiti; and WHEREAS, local cities in Santa Clara County spend millions of dollars annually cleaning up graffiti vandalism not including the money spent on law enforcement or by individual homeowners and businesses to keep their properties free of graffiti; and WHEREAS, there are a wide range of measures available to those convicted of graffiti vandalism including the suspension of driving privileges which are of the utmost importance to most teenagers as well as assigning responsibility to the graffiti offender to maintain and clean certain areas; and WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Cities Association, in conjunction with the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, the Juvenile Courts and the Juvenile Probation Department of Santa Clara County will initiate increased awareness of the "Do Graffiti - Lose Your License" and "Adopt-A-Block" laws with the goal of deterring young people from committing graffiti; and WHEREAS, this collaboration constitutes a pledge by all parties to promote a broader awareness, vigilant enforcement, aggressive prosecution, and consistent application of the "Do Graffiti - Lose Your License" and "Adopt-A-Block" laws; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Campbell will implement the "Do Graffiti - Lose Your License" campaign into the existing anti-graffiti program and authorizes the display of campaign posters and bumper stickers in prominent locations throughout the City; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the implementation of the "Do Graffiti - Lose Your License" campaign will be coordinated with the City of Campbell Police Department and other City departments involved in graffiti abatement, as well as the schools, youth service organizations, neighborhood associations, and neighborhood watch groups within the City.
