A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
RECOMMENDING THAT THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
DESIGNATE THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS COUNCIL
AS THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY OPERATIONAL AREA COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Emergency Preparedness Council (EPC) has as its
purpose the promotion of inter-jurisdictional disaster preparedness; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Emergency Preparedness Council (EPC) is the advisory
body of the Santa Clara County Operational Area in matters affecting disaster preparedness
throughout the Operational Area; and
WHEREAS, every city within the Santa Clara County Operational Area has appointed from
its elected city council members a representative to the Emergency Preparedness Council, and the
Board of Supervisors has appointed a representative from among the elected members of the Board
of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services has called for the
formation of Operational Area Councils (OAC) for the purpose of making policy decisions on behalf
of the Operational Area; and
WHEREAS, on September 11, 1997, the Santa Clara County Emergency Preparedness
Council (EPC) did meet and vote nine to three that the EPC recommend that the Santa Clara County
Board of Supervisors designate the EPC as the Santa Clara County Operational Area Council (OAC)
with the authority to carry out the responsibilities of the OAC as stated by the California Governor's
Office of Emergency Services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
recommend that the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors pass an urgent resolution designating
the Santa Clara County Emergency Preparedness Council as the Santa Clara County Operational
Area Council (OAC) with governing body authority to carry out the responsibilities of the OAC as
stated by the California Office of Emergency Services.
