RESOLUTION NO. 9228
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING
CALL FOR BIDS FOR THE ANNUAL STREET MAINTENANCE PROJECT (97-71)
CAMPBELL AVENUE FROM WINCHESTER BOULEVARD TO
BASCOM AVENUE
WHEREAS, the City Council's adopted 1996-97 budget included funds for the Annual
Street Resurfacing Project; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the project have been prepared; and
WHEREAS, the City has received numerous complaints regarding the noise and safety
factors associated with the metal Pacific Gas & Electric vault lids located in downtown
Campbell; and
WHEREAS, Pacific Gas & Electric underground conversion funds (Rule 20A funds)
are available to remove the existing PG&E metal vault lids and replace them with more
effective concrete vault lids; and
WHEREAS, West Valley Sanitation District (WVSD) will be completing a sanitary
sewer rehabilitation project on Campbell Avenue between Union and Bascom Avenues; and
WHEREAS, the resurfacing of this portion of Campbell Avenue could most
economically be done by WVSD' s contractor following the sanitary sewer project; and
WHEREAS, WVSD has conceptually agreed to include the resurfacing work with their
contract; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Director will reView an agreement to include the
resurfacing work in the WVSD project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Campbell hereby approves the plans and specifications for the Campbell Avenue Resurfacing
Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Public Works Director is authorized to issue
such plans and specifications for public bid.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby authorizes the use of Rule
20A funds for necessary modifications to the PG&E vaults previously installed in the
downtown underground district.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $300,000 in Fiscal Year 1996/97 operating funds
for street maintenance be set aside for reappropriation for street maintenance in fiscal year
1997/98.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Public Works Director is authorized to enter
into an agreement with WVSD in an amount not to exceed $138,000 to complete the
resurfacing of Campbell Avenue between Union and Bascom Avenues.
