RESOLUTION NO. 9179
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMPBELL COMMENDING JAMES 1. LENIHAN FOR THIRTY SIX YEARS
OF SERVICE TO THE SANTA CLARA VALLEY WATER DISTRICT
WHEREAS, James J. Lenihan has been an elected member of the Santa Clara Valley Water
District's Board of Directors since 1960 and has served as its Chair on five occasions;
WHEREAS, during his terms of office, James L. Lenihan has been an active member of
numerous local, state and national water resource affiliations, including a number of
gubernatorial appointments to special task forces, committees and the California Water
Commission, which have substantially influenced state and federal water policy; and
WHEREAS, James J. Lenihan's early involvement and effective leadership to secure local, state
and federal flood control programs and projects have helped make Santa Clara County and the
State of California leaders in the stewardship of water resources; and
WHEREAS, James J. Lenihan was chosen Association of California Water Agencies "1993
Distinguished Water Leader" in recognition of his numerous efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does
hereby commend and honor James J. Lenihan for his thirty six years of exemplary public service
to the Santa Clara Valley Water District.
