RESOLUTION NO. 9114
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
COMMENDING JOHN BURKE FOR TWENTY-TWO YEARS OF SERVICE
TO THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
WHEREAS, John Burke was appointed to the Campbell Public Works Department on
November 1, 1973; and
WHEREAS, John Burke was appointed to the position of Maintenance Man I and was
retitled Park Maintenance Worker I on April 25, 1974; and
WHEREAS, John Burke has been a member of the Park Maintenance Section since its
inception and has seen its expansion to include maintenance of Morgan Park, the Community
Center and numerous landscaped medians in addition to the existing Civic Center grounds,
Campbell Park and other small parks; and
WHEREAS, John Burke has extensive knowledge of the Morgan Park irrigation system
which has benefited the City in the repair and timing of the system and in training others in its
operation; and
WHEREAS, John Burke has been willing and available to respond to numerous
emergencies over the years, most recently the severe wind storms of December, 1995; and
WHEREAS, John Burke's horticultural knowledge and street tree work aided in the
City's effort to obtain Tree City USA distinction by the National Arbor Day Foundation for the
past 14 years in recognition of the City's effective tree care.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby commends John Burke for twenty-two years of service to the City of Campbell and
wishes him good health and happiness in his retirement.
