CC Resolution 8896 RESOLUTION NO. 8896 BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL COMMENDING CONGRESSMAN NORMAN Y. MINET A WHEREAS, Norman Y. Mineta was elected to Congress in 1974 to represent California's 15th Congressional District; and WHEREAS, Norman Y. Mineta has won every bid for re-election in the years since, and is now serving in his tenth consecutive term in Congress; and WHEREAS, Norman Y. Mineta's broad legislative and leadership experience in the U.S. House of Representatives earned him the greatest trust of his Democratic colleagues who elected Mineta Chair of the House Committee on Public Works and Transportation for the 103rd Congress, which convened on January 5, 1993; and WHEREAS, Norman Y. Mineta's wide legislative expertise in Washington, D.C. includes transporation, high-technology industry, trade, NASA and the American space program, the Federal Budget, and civil rights; and WHEREAS, Norman Y. Mineta was instrumental in the development of ISTEA Legislation which provided funding for various projects in the City of Campbell including the Bascom A venue Interconnect and Resurfacing Project; the Camden/Highway 17 Improvement Project and the Hamilton Salmar Improvement Project; and WHEREAS, Norman Y. Mineta was also instrumental in authoring legislation that provided funding for the Vasona Corridor Project in the City of Campbell. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does hereby acknowledge with sincere appreciation the exceptional contributions made by Congressman Norman Y. Mineta during his tenure as United States Congressman representing the citizens of Campbell in the 15th District.
