CC Resolution 8758 RESOLUTION NO. 8758 BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL COMMENDING JOHN J. ASHWORTH FOR ELEVEN YEARS OF SERVICE ON THE CITY COUNCIL WHEREAS, John J. Ashworth was elected to the Campbell City Council in a Special Election in 1983, and served an additional two terms commencing in 1985 and 1990; and WHEREAS, during his Council terms, John J. Ashworth served as Mayor in 1984 and again in 1990; and WHEREAS, John J. Ashworth served on the Campbell Parks and Recreation Commission from 1974 to 1983; and WHEREAS, John J. Ashworth has fulfilled numerous committee assignments during his tenure on the City Council including representing Campbell on the Congestion Management Agency Policy Advisory Committee, the Vasona Corridor Joint Policy Advisory Board, the League of Cities/Peninsula Division Revenue and Taxation Committee, and West Valley Mayors and Managers; and WHEREAS, some of the projects that were completed during John J. Ashworth's tenure as a City Councilmember include the acquisition and development of the Campbell High School property as a community center, the completion of the Campbell portion of the Los Gatos Creek Trail, the Prometheus development at 900 Hamilton Avenue, the purchase of the Winchester Drive-in site, the development of Hyde Park, the relocation of the Ainsley House adjacent to the City Hall facility, the Downtown Streetscape Project, and the purchase of a portion of the San Tomas School site for the development of a park; and WHEREAS, John J. Ashworth has exhibited a high degree of public responsibility and served the citizens of Campbell with commitment and dedication. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does hereby commend and honor John J. Ashworth for his eleven years of service as a Campbell Councilmember and his many contributions to the Campbell community.
