RESOLUTION NO. 8759
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CAMPBELL SUPPORTING THE CELEBRATIONS
HONORING DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a nationally recognized leader in the Civil
Rights Movement; and
WHEREAS, the life work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is celebrated as a national
holiday honoring his birthday in January of 1995; and
WHEREAS, this national holiday will serve as a time for people of every race, creed and
color to reflect on the principles of racial equality and nonviolent social change
advocated by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; and
WHEREAS, the Human Relations Commission of Santa Clara County as the agency
charged with ensuring and promoting Civil Rights is an active participant in this
commemoration; and
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell is committed to the ideals and principles of freedom and
quality that inspired Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby supports the celebrations honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and calls upon the
citizens of Campbell to participate in the spirit of these celebrations and to practice the
ideals so ably exemplified by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
