RESOLUTION NO. 8752
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CAMPBELL ACKNOWLEDGING ROD DIRIDON FOR TWENTY YEARS
OF SERVICE AS SANTA CLARA COUNTY SUPERVISOR, DISTRICT FOUR
WHEREAS, Rod Diridon has served as Santa Clara County Supervisor since 1974 when
he was elected to represent District Four which includes the City of Campbell; and
WHEREAS, Rod Diridon is known as the "father" of the modern transit service in Santa
Clara County, and has been an outspoken advocate of mass transit as a means of
supporting development while fighting air pollution and traffic congestion; and
WHEREAS, Rod Diridon chaired the Guadalupe Corridor Light Rail Project Board
from its inception in the late 1970's to its completion in 1991; and
WHEREAS, Rod Diridon was the leading advocate for the Vasona Corridor Light Rail
Project which, upon completion, will include stations located in the City of Campbell; and
WHEREAS, Rod Diridon has been effective in obtaining funding and support for several
transportation projects in the West Valley and the City of Campbell including ISTEA
Grants; and
WHEREAS, Rod Diridon was instrumental in obtaining funding for the Los Gatos Creek
Trail, providing additional recreational activities for the citizens of Campbell.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
does hereby acknowledge with sincere appreciation the exceptional contributions made by
Supervisor Rod Diridon during his twenty years of service as Santa Clara County Supervisor,
Fourth District.
