EXHIBIT A
Attachment to Resolution No.
I. Establishment of Executive Management Salary Bands
Two salary bands are established for executive management positions. Executive
Management positions are placed within the bands as follows:
Salary Band I
Police Chief
Public Works Director
Salary Band II
Administrative Services Director
Community Development Director
Finance Director
Recreation and Community Services Director
The minimum and maximum salary levels for each range will be established each
year with the approval of the City Council upon the recommendation of the City
Manager. Range adjustments shall be enacted by the adoption of the Salary
Schedule. Adjustments to the ranges will be based on a comparison to internal
(similar positions which report to executive management positions) and external
(positions of similar responsibilities in cities of similar size) relationships.
II. Annual Executive Management Salary Adjustments
Adjustments to the salary levels of Executive Managers will be considered at the
beginning of each fiscal year. The City Manager shall recommend, and the City
Council may approve, an annual average and a maximum (not to exceed)
adjustment to the actual salaries of department heads. The average adjustment
recommended shall be in consideration of changes in the cost of living, all other
employee salary adjustments, and internal and external comparisons. The maximum
(not to exceed) adjustment will serve as a cap to salary increase levels. The
allocation of department head adjustments shall be made at the determination of
the City Manager based on consideration of individual performance.
