CC Resolution 8707 ~.- "'. RESOLUTION NO. 8707 BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIlY OF CAMPBELL ADOPTING A NEW DEPARTMENT HEAD COMPENSATION PLAN WHEREAS, Section 2.16.010 of the Campbell Municipal Code provides that the City Council may, by resolution, adopt salary and wage scales for appointed officers and employees of the City; and WHEREAS, a department head compensation plan has been developed which will allow for the setting of department head salaries within one of two established ranges, and based upon the level of responsibility and performance of each employee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby adopt the Department Head Compensation Plan as outlined in the attached Exhibit A FURTHER, by the adoption of this resolution, be it resolved that the City Council rescinds Resolution No. 6703 passed and adopted on the 6th day of March, 1984. A) ~#> EXHIBIT A Attachment to Resolution No. I. Establishment of Executive Management Salary Bands Two salary bands are established for executive management positions. Executive Management positions are placed within the bands as follows: Salary Band I Police Chief Public Works Director Salary Band II Administrative Services Director Community Development Director Finance Director Recreation and Community Services Director The minimum and maximum salary levels for each range will be established each year with the approval of the City Council upon the recommendation of the City Manager. Range adjustments shall be enacted by the adoption of the Salary Schedule. Adjustments to the ranges will be based on a comparison to internal (similar positions which report to executive management positions) and external (positions of similar responsibilities in cities of similar size) relationships. II. Annual Executive Management Salary Adjustments Adjustments to the salary levels of Executive Managers will be considered at the beginning of each fiscal year. The City Manager shall recommend, and the City Council may approve, an annual average and a maximum (not to exceed) adjustment to the actual salaries of department heads. The average adjustment recommended shall be in consideration of changes in the cost of living, all other employee salary adjustments, and internal and external comparisons. The maximum (not to exceed) adjustment will serve as a cap to salary increase levels. The allocation of department head adjustments shall be made at the determination of the City Manager based on consideration of individual performance. f:ExhA
