RESOLUTION NO. 8666
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL EXPRESSING
SUPPORT FOR THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO'S APPLICATION FOR
DESIGNATION AS A FEDERAL ENTERPRISE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, the federal government has recently launched a new multi-agency
initiative, called the Enterprise Community Program, that seeks to assist economically
distressed communities to empower themselves; and
WHEREAS, the City of East Palo Alto is in great need of employment and housing
opportunities for its residents and improvement of its public infrastructure systems; and
WHEREAS, the demographic characteristics within the City of East Palo Alto
qualify the city for designation as a Federal Enterprise Community; and
WHEREAS, the award of this designation will assist the City of East Palo Alto in
the implementation of its comprehensive strategic plan for confronting the community's
economic difficulties and becoming a self sufficient community; and
WHEREAS, a healthy, self sufficient City of East Palo Alto is of importance to all
communities within the San Francisco Bay region;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Campbell hereby endorses the application of the City of East Palo Alto for designation as a
Federal Enterprise Community and urges the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development to grant the designation and the associated allocation of federal funds.
