RESOLUTION NO. 8644
A RESOLUTION OF lHE CITY COUNCIL OF 1HE CITY OF CAMPBELL
ESTABliSHING A BICYCLE COMMHTEE AND BICYCLE COORDINATOR POSmON
AND APPROVING A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission has mandated the establishment
of a Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) and city wide bicycle plan within each jurisdiction in order
to be eligible to receive Transportation Development Act (IDA) funds; and
WHEREAS, the County of Santa Clara has recommended that Campbell receive $44,000
of IDA funds for the Los Gatos Creek Trail Pedestrian Bridge to supplement the $80,000 of IDA
funds previously allocated; and
WHEREAS, the City will remain eligible to receive the additional $44,000 if a Bicycle
Advisory Committee is in place by June 30, 1994, with subsequent development of a bike plan; and
WHEREAS, Transportation Division staff do not have time available to act as coordinator
for establishment of the Bicycle Advisory Committee and development of the bicycle plan; and
WHEREAS, the part time Clerk Typist in Public Works Administration is qualified and
available to act as the Bicycle Coordinator, outside of and in addition to her normal working hours.
NOW, lHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby authorizes the establishment of a Bicycle Advisory Committee as mandated by the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission; authorizes the establishment of the position of Bicycle
Coordinator; and approves a budget adjustment in the amount of $1,000 to fund the position
through June 30, 1994.
