11386
A RESOLUTION OF THE CAMPBELL CITY COUNCIL
SUPPORTING SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Campbell supports policies and programs
that focus on health, wellness and healthier community environments; and
WHEREAS, Safe Routes to School is a national and international movement to create
safe, convenient, and fun opportunities for children to bicycle and walk to school; and
WHEREAS, having safer routes to and from schools can decrease pedestrian and
bicycling related injuries, not just for students, but for the entire community; and
WHEREAS, Safe Routes to School infrastructure improvements create lasting benefits,
and improve the routes to schools, increase safety and provide opportunities for
physical activity for everyone; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 2012, the Cities Association Board of Directors adopted a
Resolution supporting Safe Routes to School and encouraged all cities in Santa Clara
County to pass resolutions to demonstrate commitment to increasing pedestrian
activity, bicycling and transit use among school aged children and their families.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Campbell supports Safe
Routes to School and is committed to increasing pedestrian activity, bicycling, and
transit use among school aged children and families in the community.
